TRAPICHE WINERY

Bodega Trapiche en Executive Hotel Park Suites

Maipú

Bodegas Trapiche, with over a hundred years of history, is a pioneer in technological innovation and in conquering new markets. It was founded in 1883 but it is necessary to look back on the early days to understand the history of a company whose role in this industry is unquestionable. Its origins make reference to Tiburcio Benegas. This man, who came from Rosario city, arrived in Mendoza in 1864. The first property he bought was located in the presentday department of Godoy Cruz, an area that is now known as El Trapiche. From that moment on, the 250 hectares established the bases of a prosperous company.

His biggest property was located in the department of Maipú.

A French element is noticeable as Benegas put emphasis on the French vinicultural tradition right from the beginning. The family was in permanent contact with the French school, especially the one of Bordeaux. The family tradition continued, bringing new European vine-stocks, verifying its adaptation and experimenting with different systems of fermentation and refrigeration. In 1972 the firm was made over to the Pulenta family, who had settled in Mendoza since 1902. Since then, an investment in European stateof- the-art technology has been incorporated into the original philosophy. Most of the grapes used by Bodegas Trapiche to produce wine grow in Coquimbito district (Maipú, High zone of Mendoza River). This wine-producing region is characterized by high altitude lands, stony, sandy, alluvial soil, meltwater from The Andes mountain range and radiant sun. These ideal land conditions become noticeable to taste: round wines with ripe tannins as a result of late-harvested grapes since the higher the altitude, the stronger the marks left by the land.

This winery also offers a full range of diverse products following the same style.
